Peter, all the models you mentioned will do a great job on the broadcast
band, including the HQ-129x. Also consider the HQ-100 if you need to save
space. I use the HQ-180 which has adjustable AVC (fast, medium or slow).
This is a very handy tool to have. I'm not sure that any other Hammarlund
has that feature outside of possibly the SP-600. My 200 foot longwire
antenna does a good job but if you want to get really serious you're
probably going to want to use an amplified loop antenna, especially for
transatlantic DX. I've never used one and am not well versed on the subject.
