Gregg...Welcome to the group! When I was a kid back in the mid 60's, I had a
Zenith Transocianic H-500 and a three band Echophone receiver. The kid next
door got a 129x for his birthday and that was my introduction to Hammarlund.
I was impressed. My first Hammarlund was an Hq-160 but lightning fried all
the antenna coils so I got rid of it. Now I am the proud owner of an HQ-110C
and an HQ-180. My 180 is modified in that it has a 6khz variable selectivity
control on the front panel where the the slot depth control used to be. (The
slot depth is just under the the top lift up cover). If you like the 129-x,
you'll love the 180! My sights are now set on the SP-600. I've never had the
chance to "test drive" one, but my understanding is that that's the ULTIMATE
Hammarlund. Post a question and you'll be suprised at how much debate and
