Dave Edwards suggested a d-limonene based cleaner and also warned:

Xylene is an aromatic solvent (aromatic in the chemical sense, meaning
with a benzene-like chemical structure). As I noted, it will attack
many paints, lacquers, and solvents.

Turpentine (a mixture of C18 turpenes) is a far milder solvent than
xylene. Likewise acetone is milder too. But please remember that
these "citrus-based" cleaners are actually more aggressive and more
toxic than you might think. The active chemical compound in them is
d-limonene [: -1-METHYL-4-(1-METHYLETHENYL)CYCLOHEXENE, CARVENE,
CINENE]. You should still test this material before using it on a
large area.
