Hi Mike,
    I'm afraid what you describe is a common problem with that switch on the
170/180's.  The detent tab was staked onto the switch shaft, and wasn't
"hit" hard enough in the process.  I've had 2 with the problem, tried to
solder it back, with no success, guess I just learned to live with it.
    If you here of a fix, pse let me know.
