I haven't had nearly as many as Les, but mine have also been a mixed bag
-- most without handles.

Need to add this caution, if it isn't obvious:  The rack handles added
onto the SP-600's are generally just fastened to the panel with screws. 
The front panel is held by 8 screws which thread into "comb" stampings in
the side panels.  There are a number radios, ranging from the R-388,
R-390/390A, and even the Racal RA-17's, which have the flaired heavy-duty
handles with washers and nuts, often bolted through the side frames as
well as the front panel (except the 390A).  With those, I often carry
them by the handles, and sometimes by just one without problems.  Don't
assume you can do that with an SP-600.  You may bend the front panel --
or worse.
