Fellow Hammarlunders:

I had sent in a previous post about problems I had with my
HQ-170A in terms of obtaining S-meter zero.

I rceived several excellent suggestions from list members and
would like to thank all of them for taking the time to help
out.

The S-meter zero variable pot R20 was designated as 300 ohms
in the schematic for the HQ-170A. However, in an addendum in
the back of the same manual, a change was supposed to be made
to the schematic. R20 was now supposed to be designated as
1500 ohms.

I substituted a 5K pot for the original 300 ohm pot and was
finally able to zero the S meter properly with the 12AU7A
installed.

I can't figure how the radio S-meter worked at all with the
old 300 ohm pot installed...but then I never could get it to
zero out correctly...guess the previous owner couldn't
either:-)

In any case, I now need a replacement for R20. It is the same
value and part number as the S meter sensitivity adjustment
pot, R19. It is part # K15379-2, 1500 ohms. The part number
is stamped on the side of the pot.

I could use either the R19 or R20 pot as long as it is 1500
ohms with the same above part number.

Perhaps someone on the list has a parts rig HQ-170A and can
pull the correct pot for me. I will be glad to pay for the
pot and shipping.

Thanks for any assistance that can be rendered.
