Hi again all...This message is for HCI fans who like to tinker. In =
Popular Communications magazine, Peter Bertini writes a column called =
"The Wireless Connection" about vintage technology. Over the next =
several months, he'll be offering colunms about building accessories for =
our old barebones radios. The emphasis will be geared toward =
Hallicrafters and National but will work with other rigs as well. A =
Hallicrafters S-20R receiver will be the guinea pig for most of the =
projects. Included will be an outboard "S" meter, a tuning eye signal =
indicator, a crystal calibrator, a crystal controlled BFO, a Q =
multiplier, and an inexpensive PIC microchip-controlled digital readout =
add-on. There will also be a colunm about building a plug-in product =
detector for the Hallicrafters S-40 (it plugs into the detector tube =
socket). These articles will span over the next several months. Check =
out the Popular Communications web site, or you can email Peter Bertini =
at [email protected]. Or just suscribe to the magazine. The =
projects themselves will not appear on-line. Hope those Hallicrafters =
fans can get out the soldering guns and have some fun. 73's...Mike =
Taylor
