[Hammarlund] Hello, Im new to the list and I need some advice

I saw the Hammarlund list and thought I would join
because I really enjoy the old radios. I have no
backqround in tube gear and I am wanting to buy my
first Hammarlund. A good friend has a HQ-170A that he
loaned me to try out, it also has the S-200 Hammarlund
speaker. He could never get it to work, so I didnt
think I would either. I found out that the shorting
plug on the back was not shorted and that was the main
problem, after cleaning the tube pins and sockets with
Deoxit it came back to life. Rig sounds good now and
looks clean. The case has a few scratches down to the
primer and the chassis has a few discolarations but it
is in good shape. The face is very clean, and all the
orignal knobs are there. Now that it is working im
thinking about buying it. He is asking $225 for the
pair and I do not know if this is a good price or not.
I was really wanting a HQ-180A or a SP-600 JX-17 and I
dont know if the Ham Bands only will work for me. I
would appreciate any help you could give me on prices
for the HQ-170A, HQ180A and the SP-600 jx-17.
