[Hammarlund] HQ-110 hum modulation...

I was given a nice HQ-110-C a while back. Even the clock works. I 
cleaned and aligned it. I was amazed at both the sensitivity (even 
on 6 meters) and the lack of frequency re-setability on 20 meters 
and above.

However, when in the CW mode, with the BFO on, the note is hum-
modulated. No hum with no signal. I have carefully checked the 
tubes and replaced those which seemed weak, to no avail.

Anyone run into a similar problem and find a solution for it?
