I read a really cool tip from MacWeek this morning

that is useful to zap frozen apps. For example, RYTelnet hangs on me from time to time and the easy way to zap a "not responding" app is to hold down the Shift key before going to the black apple. This simple keystroke command changes the standard "Force Quit" to "Force Quit RYTelnet" or the open app that is frozen.
I am not picking on RYTelnet. It is an old app by Roberto, EA2RY, who misplaced or lost the source code and it has not been updated for years but many of us use it daily. It may be old but still works with OS X 10.8.3. I have learned it freezes from time to time (due mainly to operator errors) and the OS X Force Quit allows you to quickly restart.
Try it, the free price is right.
