Crossover does not requiring partitioning of the hard drive, nor does it require a Windows license.  It runs as an application in OS X that emulates the very basics of the Windows environment allowing Windows applications to run.  In effect, you'll end up running two applications; Crossover, and whichever Windows application you are interested in. 

If you install CrossOver, then follow the directions in my document, you should be good to go.
