Thanks for asking Jim,
I changed the subject so as not to hijack.

I tried voice, however I was not able to ever "get through".
Desert in San Diego, Baja & Mozambique. And my apartment in San Diego also.
160, 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 & 10 meter.
Digital, tried PSK-31.

Auto Tuner only. I thought that would be enough.
I've been looking at an MFJ tuner, forget model number.
I will buy it, if it helps.

I figured it was easier to do digital since the voice connection was not happening.

Not sure...
I have downloaded most of the software on the Ham Mac site.
Read several times how to connect to the Digimaster Pro+.
What I don't understand, or have not been able to connect the dots on, is -
What program do I use to tune the radio (select frequencies)?
What program do I use to do PSK 31?
How do I know the software is connected to the Radio via the C-IV cable?
I started to a do a write up, for the beginner, to do PSK-31 and got so confused I gave up.
I realize this is a hobby, a tweak and build your own thing. I just want to talk far. I'm
not interested in, although fascinated by, the hacking aspect. In Baja, we use the ham radios,
for race comms. A friend told me to get a license and learn to use the radio in the states.
I did the first part, license, stuck on the second part. =]
