useful is the "Multimode" (Blackcatsystems) but most I use is a hardware solution: the DSP 2232. 
This is the dsp version of the wellknown pk232. DSP 2232 and DSP 1232 will work in same quality. The last letters of the decoded text are displayed in a little screen on the front panel. For displaying more and biger you need a rs232 connection and a simple serial terminal program.
the DSP2232 is an old rig, and not supported or on sale, but maybe you find a used one at any fleemarket.
