Thanks to a tip from Jeff, N8NOE, I have RYTelnet version 1.7.1 working FB under Mac OS X 10.7.3. For those that may not remember Roberto EA2RY authored and released for amateur use a telnet client called RYTelnet for Mac users to connect to clusters via the internet.
I like and have used EA2RY's RYTelnet for years; however, it has not been working correct since I updated to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion). I could not get RYTelnet to write changes to the rytelnetsettings file so it was very hard to implement new cluster commands. I contacted Roberto, EA2RY, last year and he responded in Spanish that the source code to RYTelnet version 1.7.1 was lost so there would be no updates. He reminded me that RYTelnet version 1.8 was released to replace version 1.7.1. I did not care for version 1.8 because the main panel is too large and it lacks a standard Mac size button in the lower right. Roberto, EA2RY, has been very busy supporting DX operations and his commercial web businesses. He may not have time to support the Mac RYTelnet project. Please do not bother him email on RYTelnet. The tip or patch for OS X Lion outlined below works with both versions.
The N8NOE tip that helped me bring new life into the old RYTelnet had to do with OS X 10.7 (Lion) permissions. All I had to do was to "Get Info" on the "RYTelnet" application and the "Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences" folder. Yes, second item is a folder not the rytelnesetting file located in the folder. Open the Sharing and Permissions box at the bottom, click to unlock and use the + to add "admin" to have access. Once added be sure you have authorized "Read and Write" to both you and admin. Click to lock both the app and the folder. That all folks! I did a restart and RYTelnet v1.7.1 started working like a brand new application after making two permission changes. I can now make changes within the settings panel and the app writes the changes to the rytelnetsettings file.
I use RYTelnet daily to access the AB5K AR-Cluster systems <http://www.ab5k.net/ArcSupport.aspx> operated by a number of users around the world. Try the tip and setup the macros and option to support your needs.

Ps: Contact Jeff N8NOE <n8noe at arrl.net> to access one the two AR-Clusters he maintains.
Use the following in RYTelnet
