John,

I thought the same thing at first but I tried the namebench settings and they helped.  My router, gateway.2wire.net, is shown in the right side under Search Domains.  Maybe OS X uses the specified DNS servers rather than the settings in the router?

I did not have to mess with the router settings to get the namebench suggested improvements. After changing to the namebench recommended settings and restarting, namebench came back with

   "Your current primary DNS server is Fastest" 

Try it! The price is right and it may help.
