And the older driver for certain does not work anymore? Troubling,
the only USB-Serial devices I’ve ever seen supported are the Keyspan
devices and the open-source Prolific PL2303 chipset driver. (I half
wonder if the former uses the Prolific chipset, since the PL2303
driver’s page mentions Tripp-Lite. Haven’t tried it.)

I have one of the Keyspan models from before the Tripp-Lite
acquisition, but I need another and am strongly considering getting
one of http://is.gd/VUtjjW (amazon.com, US$11, Prime eligible), which
is pretty comparable to the USA-19HS for any purpose to which I could
put the thing. Haven’t checked if the driver is Lion-ready yet, but
I have this sinking suspicion that if it isn’t, it will be a lot
faster than anything out of Tripp-Lite.

I have one of http://is.gd/PlWv2x and used it for an old external 56k
modem. Same chipset, so I know the thing basically works on my Mac,
but unless your radio’s got a DB9 port on the back you’re going to
need some adapters with this one.

Still, I hope the Keyspan device can be made to work. I have a
couple of them in use myself, and have clients who use them as well.
I’d hate to have to tell them they need new serial dongles before
they pay me to upgrade them to Lion. They might decide it’s not
worth it if it means extra expenses! ;)
