True - but won't work with a Mac that has no firewire - like a Mac Book Air, or if you want to transfer between two Macs that are too far away to connect via Firewire. Both methods work just fine. You can even migrate wirelessly - but it's slow.

The Ethernet method is neither fancy nor difficult to set up.
