I had no idea that a simple question would run for three ? days and garner so
many comments. THAT indicates unhappiness behind the doors <G>. Anyway, I
really would like to have a brand new $150 10" Netbook running OS-X.
Whenever Mac brings that out, I will be most happy. It would have the best
of both worlds in that I could run MixW, Winmor, Pactor, yada which are
(unfortunately) PC based and have the rock solid ability to run those
programs and others for digital hams, without fear of BSDs and so on.
I was not aware of any OS-X "laws" disallowing the installation of OS-X on a
non Mac netbook. otoh, I would be happy to have the $150 (hysterical
laughter here) MacBook with a 10" screen and a rock solid PC OS running all
those digital software programs since their owners will NOT port them to the Mac.
What to do? VMWare and other emulation has never been dependable in my
experience and anyway, such only adds more storage and CPU speed
requirements. I hate PCs and M$ in general and have never looked back since
I bought my MacPro in Oct '05 ? However, I have had to buy a T41 to run
the digital software but I feel it is too large to carry around with the
480HX and so on. A netbook in footprint, would be far better for what I want
to do ... but I want STABILITY in the OS. crashes are awkward when you are
relaying a 30 minute Pactor message.
thanks to all for your input. I guess that there really is no other choice
nor for a long time if ever
