The iLife and iWork suites are separate applications. If you already have them, and if they're a Lion-compatible version, then they'll stick around and you can use them after the upgrade.

The Migration Assistant will ask you what to migrate/restore from Time Machine: from memory I think you get your pick of just user accounts, user accounts plus home directories, applications, and maybe more.

You mentioned you moved to the Intel Mini "some years ago". Not all Intel Macs are supported under Lion--you need at least a Core 2 Duo. Core Duo won't cut it because the OS is now 64 bit.

I haven't tried running Lion in 2 GB. My machines are dev boxes, so I put extra memory in them.
