[Ham-Mac] How to Change file extension Associatation in OS X

Use cmd-i from Finder.  Look where it says "Open with:" as in:

Choose "other ..." if Text Edit is not in the list when you click on the control.  This will cause the "Change All..." button to light up, as in:

Click on "Change All..." and that will make the change system-wide.
