John,

I don't need to turn off the computer, only unplug the ethernet cable from it.

If you turn the Mac and PC off does it go away? I think I have a similar

I recently got fast(er) internet at home and now I get a very loud spike (sounds like a CW carrier) every 50khz or so from 20m to 2m. It's aweful. Specifically, the internet is from an access point to my home via a dish on the roof, then cat 5 from the dish to my 24" iMac.

I even replaced the cat 5 they installed with shielded cable to no avail. Wrapping the cat 5 around toroids begins to reduce the RFI a bit.
