Guys-

Wondering if any of you have dealt with ethernet noise showing up all over the RF spectrum for your iMacs? I recently got fast(er) internet at home and now I get a very loud spike (sounds like a CW carrier) every 50khz or so from 20m to 2m. It's aweful. Specifically, the internet is from an access point to my home via a dish on the roof, then cat 5 from the dish to my 24" iMac.

Today I tried cabling the internet/cat 5 to an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router, and then let my iMac pick up the signal wirelessly. It didn't kill the noise. I even replaced the cat 5 they installed with shielded cable to no avail. Wrapping the cat 5 around toroids begins to reduce the RFI a bit.

If I connect two computers--Apple or PC--together with cat 5 in the shack, I get the noise. If I connect two computers together on the opposite side of the house I can't hear the noise in the shack. So it seems to be a proximity thing.

At this point I'm facing moving the dish to the opposite end of the house which I don't want to do, thought I'd see if anyone here has similar problems. There are several posts on QRZ.com/eHam.net forums with similar complaints.
