[Ham-Mac] imac g3, mac os 9, and linux

 I installed ubuntu on G3 iMac;be sure to have enough memory at least 
256 meg ram,try  one of the earlier distributions like ubuntu 6 or 7 for 
ppc.
 Boot from the ubuntu CD and choose languages ,etc. as asked;at one 
point the computer will appear to freeze  but the software is checking 
your system or something,it will visually resume after 15 minutes or so 
and  proceed with the install.I don't quite know why the long delay;but 
that's how mine acted.After that it worked fine .
