[Ham-Mac] new iMac: parallels vs. fusion?

Gang:

Looks like I've started a worthwhile thread. Thanks for all the
replies; let's keep it going!

Yes, the 24" iMac's are still available as a referb on Apple's
website or as a discounted model on MacMall.com. I don't have room
for that massive 27" display, but the 24" should work which is why I
wanted to go that direction.

There is some great Mac software for hams, no doubt about it.
However there will always be stuff that you can't do...programming
software for my new HT is PC only, for instance. Also, I have really
grown fond of N1MM (contest logger) and all it's versatility (it is
also a huge headache getting all the settings correct :-). N1MM
supports about every contest out there, including all the state QSO
parties. There isn't anything OSX based that can do that (yet).

So my intention right now is to keep a clean install on the XP side,
essentially never using the internet over there except to download
updates, email my logs to contest sponsors, etc. Unplugging a USB
port at the start of a session seems like a minor inconvenience for
having both platforms on one machine. Almost everything I do now is
already OSX based. No doubt about it, the iMac platform is superior
for almost all daily needs. Ham stuff still lags a bit, but it's
certainly getting better.

If anyone has had problems with N1MM on a Mac, I'd like to know about
it. Also, Robert--what problems did you have with expose?

Thanks guys,

Chris

I have been following this thread quite closely, and would like to
know if anyone is using winlink, airmail, paclink or any of those
programs in XP and if so how well do they work?

I have a four year old 15" MacBook Titanium that I am looking to
upgrade to a MacBook Pro.

Thanks and Merry Christmas,
