That could be a cool project.

Kok Chen has offered his CocoaModem source for developers in the past.  
This could be the guts of the DSP code; you'd just need to rewrite the  
GUI.

I would think you'd just want to use a four-conductor audio plug  
directly to the rig, maybe using a Tigertronics PTT box.

This would not be able to receive on the older iPod Touch model, but  
would be able to receive on the new Touch announced Tuesday.

The Apple NDA, still in force for iPhone/Touch, would require that  
this be a closed-source project.
