Chris,
If you can boot from the Tiger install disc, it will tell you the problem
is most likely software, not hardware. If it fails the same way when
you try to boot from the install disc, then you most likely have a
a hardware issue.
If you can boot from the install disc, run the Disk Utility and have it
Repair Disk Permissions and First Aid. Then see if it will restart
on its own.
