[Ham-Mac] internal sounds

Brian K7ON,

My comment has nothing to do with Multimode or the DigiKeyer you are trying
to interface but I know what you mean about wanting to use the built-in
sound for System Alerts etc.

I have my G4 setup to accept the digital input via the Built-In Audio via
the Microphone or Line-in port on the rear and have it setup to transmit via
the USB/iMic. The only reason for transmitting via the USB/iMic was to be
able to retain the standard Mac sound alerts the internal speaker. On my
G4, if you plug anything into the speaker output port on the rear it mutes
the internal speaker. Another problem with using the speaker output is your
Mac System beeps could be transmitted

At one time I tried a Radio Shack Y-Adapter in the output and and ran one
line to a powered speaker and the other to the SL-1 to get around the mute.
It really did not work too good so I just keep the normal Mac sounds
internal and send all digital outputs via the USB/iMic port.

Good luck
