If you can find them, the Mac adapters made for Palm PDAs do just  
that.  I am using a 28X with two of them to talk to my Yaesu.

If you are near one of the CompUSA stores that is closing, you can  
get a Keyspan adapter with the DB-9 on it for $35--or wait a few  
weeks and see if they are still available at 20-30% off instead of  
this week's 10%.
