Actually I think it means that libtool can't find /usr/local/bin/
sed. On my system, sed is in /usr/bin. I think most makefiles
install self-compiled programs in /usr/local, however. I'm no
expert, so maybe someone else can chime in.

Me too! My programming experience was all in Fortran (does anybody
still use that?)

Actually I did work at Hughes (Culver City, Canoga Park and Tucson,
but never SBRC). I retired (early) in 1994.
