FWIW I am using a couple of D-Link DUB-H7 USB 2.0 Hubs and they seem  
to work OK with 10.5.1

I also use the Mac Pro's built in Hubs and the Hubs in the Cinema  
displays.

I have about 12 USB/Serial devices and 6 FireWire devices hooked up  
normally.

I did have some trouble with older USB 1.0 Hubs and retired them.
