[Ham-Mac] External Monitor for Macbook

I tried my 19" Dell that goes with my PC, mini DVI to VGA. It doesn't seem
as crisp as when the monitor is attached to the PC. Almost as if the focus
is off a little. I know there is many factors involved, but I don't want to
buy the more expensive Apple monitors for what I use my Macbook for.

I've used Dell 15" and Viewsonic 19" flat panels with my MacBook  
Pro.  Both work great.
