Hi,
I have an old Powerbook G4 and I removed the bottom and cut the
microphone wires going to the edge connector. I also cut the wires
going to the modem jack. I removed the modem card and spliced the
RJ11 to the microphone input wires. This cost you the modem and the
internal microphone but gives you MIC IN via the RJ11 Modem jack.
All the utilities now work just fine including the spectral program
from DogPark. Elecraft kit builders should be able to handle the
rework. If this is a popular item I could take some photos of my
Powerbook as a guide to the surgery.
