[Ham-Mac] RFI getting into computer

Hi Group,
I am wondering if the plastic casing of iMacs is more susceptible to
RFI from the antenna than is a computer with a metal case. However,
I should explain this. I am in a r etirement apartment and have my
antenna sitting on top of a bookcase about 10 feet away. I am using
a G5 with a metal case, but the monitor has a plastic casing. If I
don't have the display angled properly RFI will cause the computer
of turn off and on. I also have a Toshiba laptop computer and RFI
never bothers it at all. (I should say that I only use about 30 watts
with PSK). I have disconnected the display from the computer and FRI
doesn't bother it then.
The problem is that I am thinking of buying an iMac Inter Dual Core
computer. The casing is all plastic and I am wondering if the
problem would persist. The PowerBook has a metal case (I think) and
I don't imagine would have t his problem. However, I would much
rather have the iMac. Before you all jump in and say so - yes I have
filter and chokes all over the place and on all the cables.
I ma not experiencing it as much with the new Icom 756 PPRO3 I now
have as I did with the Orion.
Thanks,
Dick, N5XRD
