Forgive the slightly of topic question, its not strictly Mac related
I have an FT-857 and have already received info on the use of a Pro Set Plus
and PTT foot switch with it.
I'm now trying to determine if a Mic on a boom would be better for me, than
a Pro Set Plus.
I'd very much like some feedback.
My operating conditions:
I work from home and listen to DX Cluster stations (MLDX set to auto-tune) -
when I hear one that sounds interesting, I 'go for it' - so in this
scenario, I'm listening to a speaker and I grab the fist mic.
When I'm working lots of DX, I mostly search and pounce or listen to cluster
and call - in that situation, headphones might be useful to keep the XYL
happy (in a different room, but shack is on ground floor of house).
I have a pair of BOSE quite comfort headphones, which work quite well in
this scenario.
When workink a contest (of which I've done little so far), I like to keep my
hands free to work Mac, hence the footswitch.
I'm now wondering if a Mic on a boom might be more flexible for me, since I
wouldn't have to pick up the headset in order to call.
Which Mic would people recommend if I went that way? I'd like one that
allows the use of 2 elements, an HC-4 & HC-5
BTW - this is birthday money :-)
