Dick I just put my order in for one and will let you know how it
goes. Expected deliver is 3-4 weeks.
Here is what I know on the VPC Windows/Intel....
Apple will be doing nothing to prevent Windows from boot on the new
Intel based computers, however they are not supporting it either.
As this is the latest generation of Intel chip a new boot system
(ROM) is in place called EFI. Not sure if Windows is savy with EFI
yet. Also if you did boot into Windows you would not get to see Mac
Partition unless you had some additional software. Windows does
support HFS+ journaled. But the Mac OS X does support NTFS as read
only.
Remember drivers have to be written in Windows to support the various
new hardware on the Mac. So it will take sometime to do this (without
Apples help... again not supported).
I personally would like to see a new VPC like program which allow a
Mac OS X window to be open running a windows application. Not unlike
WINE on linux. If MS doesn't support or make a new VPC I am sure
other will!!
Also note these new Intel based Macs DO NOT run Classic (OS 9)
applications. You have to have applications written for Mac OS X but
they can be PowerPC written Mac OS X applications. There is a PowerPC
emulator call Rosetta than run this great! I have run OS 9
application in over a year so don't see an issue.
Hope this helps!
