Regarding Davids comments below, I have been using "SuperDuper" for
my main back up strategy for a couple of years.
It is a wonderful program. Its maim function is to backup your main
HD. It makes a completely bootable clone of the disk it is backing up
from. After the first backup, all the rest are incremental, taking
little time to execute. It also makes a variety of other backups
besides the cloned backup. It is also inexpensive and VERY easy to
use. The program tells you exactly what it is going to do in layman's
language before it does anything. Check it out at its website.
I am not involved in this company. I am just a happy user.

Would anyone like to comment on SilverKeeper (from Lacie) compared to
Deja
Vu?
been using Deja Vu for a while now, just got a 500Gb Lacie disk and
it came
with SilverKeeper

I also have retrospect, but I've only ever ued it for tape backup
