Here in Thunder Bay VE3XT Bill Unger is going to give a seminar to
local hams on the PIC microcontroller next month. In his publicity
email to Lakehead Amateur Radio Club members he writes:

"Before we start I would suggest you review the relationship between
Hexadecimal and Binary. And if you have a laptop it would be good if
you can bring it. I will have computers set up in the event you
don’t bring one. If you do have a laptop, go to the Microchip web
site and download and install MPLAB. On their home page it is in the
design section and MPLAB IDE. I want you to install MPLAB v 7.30
from the full zipped install."

My question touches on the MPLAB software ... has anyone used it and
would anyone be familiar with a Mac application that would do the
same job? I've always avoided the dark side and don't see the need
for laptop PC now.

thanks, Rob VE3FLB
