When I bought my Avalon they tried to sell me their GPS system,
but for $3,000.00 you only get the preloaded display, as you noted.
The Magellan RoadMate is actual GPS bird driven, and a good
feature ,if selected, will give you an alternate route around traffic
jams or construction, whatever slows you down. I am busy enough
driving with the Magellan, with the wife driving from her backseat
"vantage point" . So having an active laptop also would drive me up
the wall, or whatever object lept at me first.

I saw the TomTom advertised too, but have little info to judge it.
BestBuy didn't carry it so that tells me it's not a mover.
BTW is Lake Woebegone the "parent" lake of the one Garrison
Kellior made famous? ;-)
