Lon N3ZKP,

I am glad to hear of your success with the iMic. After looking over your
comments I question if we are using the same setup. Do you have an SL-1+
interface between the TS-570 and the computer? I wonder what Mac you are
using. Mine is an old G4 1Ghz AGP with OSX 104.3. FYI, I use the iMic for
transmit but had to bypass it for receive. Mine works great and I have no
reason to mess around with iMic.

BTW, the number I recall quoting is from the the Kenwood TS-570 users manual
where is says the output to Pin 3 (ANO) is 4.7k ohms. I have no idea what
the iMic wants to see and never could get direct answer from Griffin
Technology. I gave up asking questions because they would reply with some
technical mumbo-jumbo about interface to stereo systems. All I can say is
iMic acted more like an attenuator than an A to D converter to the audio
output from the SL-1+ that was being feed by Kenwood TS-570. The Mac G4 is a
happy camper with the output from the SL-1+ to the microphone - line in port
on the back of the G4.

This impedance mismatch discussion is off the topic. I posted the note to
share the SL-1+ modification by KG6WTF to add a USB interface. Carl's mod
with FB pictures can be seen at

I added a comment that at least one person had major interface issues with
the iMic. If you are happy with the iMic, the KG6WTF modification may be of
interest. I think he did a nice job.
