First, let me qualify my statement by saying that it's been at least  
three years since I've hooked my FT1000MP to a Mac, but when I did, I  
had absolutely no problem using the Keyspan USB PDA adapter and a  
DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable from there to the rig.

(Keyspan no longer sells the USB PDA Adapter, they now have the High- 
Speed USB PDA adapter.)

I had other connections for audio and CW, but CAT control of the  
Yaesu worked well.

I'm in the planning process now to go back to using a Mac in the  
shack, different Mac, same radio. It's disturbing to hear that the  
hardware I still have in my shop isn't supposed to work anymore...:-(
