Could be the old settings file is confusing it. You might want to 
delete the "MacLoggerDX Settings" file in ~/Library/Preferences and 
start MacLoggerDX again. You will have to reenter your call, 
registration number and station info as well as your other preferences.

Yes (and the appropriate cabling) that is one option that will work 
well.

But you will also need to get a level converter like the CT-17 from 
Icom,

the USB/Serial adapter and the level converter...

Yes MacLoggerDX supports both. The TS-2000 needs a USB/Serial adapter 
but does not need a level converter.
