My understanding is that the Microham interface uses the FTDI chip.

I'd only suggest updating if you have a problem you're trying to fix. 
If it ain't broke, don't fix it always applies.

I have not heard that it does fix that bug. Read the documentation 
that comes with the download the see what the new driver fixes, vs 
the current version of the driver you are using. If you have the 
version just prior to this one, it probably doesn't fix anything, it 
just adds some new PID numbers to support additional devices. If you 
have an older driver, it may fix some issues. When in doubt, RTFM ;-)

FTDI is apparently working on a complete re-write of the OSX driver, 
perhaps that bug will finally be fixed then.
