I recently sent my daughter's titanium G4 in for repair of the display hinges (after market company on the west coast with good recommendations.)
After it was overnighted back early this week, it would start up okay then started bogging down and lots of error messages were generated when she tried to run programs. Then, suddenly around the middle of the week, it stopped booting into the OS desktop and insists on booting to a black screen with a CLI login prompt and she cannot log in as it will not accept her username, etc.
She's bringing it home this evening some time so I can look at it. Has been years since I have used Unix (on a Sun) so I will be working to remember things. I have TechTool 4 CD and am planning to see if I can get the computer to start up off that.
Anyway, wanted to check and see if anyone had encountered a similar problem under OSX and maybe there is something "simple" that was reset or left configured improperly by the repair company - or is there a key or button that would produce this type of startup when held down (thinking somthing may be stuck?) Can any of you pros offer any starting suggestions for straightening things out?
Thanks, - Scott
