Of course, "serious" is relative and this has been a re-building
year for me as far as contesting is concerned.
I would be interested in such software, especially if it could
run on inexpensive hardware (an older 400MHz iMac, or G3
PowerBook, for example).
I have done the following - ARRL 10m (CW), ARRL 160 (CW),
ARRL SS (CW), ARRL Field Day (CW), CQ WPX (CW), NA
QSO Party (CW), CQ WW (CW), etc. CW would be important
to me.
I used to operate RTTY contests, but my desert QTH has no
electricity and was burglarized repeatedly, so I only used old old
laptops (TrLog DOS) with too few ports and too little power. RTTY
would be a plus for me for the future, though.
Contesting from home with the 35' tower and noise is discouraging.
I will hopefully be in operation from the desert antenna farm again
some day soon :)
Getting the fundamentals right, I think, would be more important
to me than an endless collection of bells and whistles.
