I am finding this thread very interesting and wonder about one point
that hasn't been brought up yet...

It may be that a significant percentage of contesters work the contests
at club stations. The club stations usually use networked PC's. If you
want to use your Mac for a club contest, you would have to use VPC and
a PC client, or else a Mac client that would work with the PC server.

You wouldn't be able to convince the whole club to switch to Macs - and
there wouldn't be much point in showing up with the best Mac Ham
logging program in the world if it wouldn't work with "WriteLog" or
whatever they are using.

The same would be true of club field day events, you would have to use
a PC client on the PC server or else a Mac client written to work with
a PC client like "Field Day Logger by N2TDK".

Ideally then, the best solution would be to convince the author(s) of
the best networked PC logging program(s) to facilitate the creation of
a Mac client for their logging program ?

If not a staring point it is certainly an issue that the author(s) of
Mac logging software would run into quickly.

(Please correct me if I've missed something).

BTW jLog looks pretty interesting it's free and is cross platform Java.
Has anyone tried it ?
