   As I recall the retail version of the Mac OS can be installed on any 
machine that is capable of running the OS; however, the version that 
comes with the machine when you buy it is model specific and can only 
be used to reinstall the OS on that type of machine. That's been my 
experience to date....kinda makes sense, Apple wants you to buy the OS 
for other machines you want to upgrade. When you buy on eBay you 
therefore have to ensure exactly what kind of CD/DVD you're getting.
