Yes, what you are suggesting should work, and of course, no problem 
adding a driver for the IC-765. According to the manual, the CI-V 
address and baud rate is dip switch selectable, and of course both can 
be selected in the MacLoggerDX Preferences Panel.
The default address for the 765 is 0x2c.
