I've got it working now, and evidently the major problem was just my
impatience. Using ZTerm to send the 'escapekiss.bin' file (as text),
the transfer window would just sit there and show nothing. But after
over a minute, I would get an error message. Getting the transfer error
message actually meant it worked. I just didn't expect it to take as
long as it took and had aborted the process too early. So, it now
works consistently albeit slowly -- but works.

I tried Paul Williamson's (KB5MU) suggestions as alternatives - using
goSerial and the 'cat' command in terminal, but was not successful with
either method -- and I was very patient and waited a long time to see
if they worked.

Anyway - ZTerm works well for this and I've set up a macro to put it
into kiss mode to try to copy AO-51 (Echo) telemetry next chance i
get.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions - both privately and on the
list.
