Sometimes a picture saves 10K words. I tried to post an example with two
pictures and the lists server traffic cop bounced my message.

Maybe you can figure this out without a picture. Let me know by email if
you want an email message with the two pictures.
==================

Several Ham-Mac users have asked about my setup for running DarwinPsk. The
following is is a copy of a posting to the darwinPks reflector that may be
of interest. You will note I did not fill in the QSOData box because I do
not use a computer log - I live in the past with old ARRL spiral log book.
I hope this example answers some of the questions.

Volker, DL1KSV, has done a nice job porting his LinPsk to DarwinPsk for OSX
and his efforts are appreciated. The latest beta version is listed at NI5V¹s
[http://www.machamradio.com/] web page. Remember DarwinPsk is not a
Macintosh application. It is a Mac OSX port of a UNIX application so some if
the user interface may be strange to Mac users.

The attached screenshot shows what I consider to be a near perfect DarwinPsk
spectral display for BPSK.

I responded the a CQ from YB5BO and he came back on the first call. There
were no noise hits and the copy was solid all the way. My rig is a Kenwood
TS-570D(G) with Menu item 32 set to the "P" option for PSK and the digital
audio output Menu item 34 is set to "9" - the max setting. The TS-570's is
connected to a SignaLink ³SL-1+² via the 13-Pin ACCY cable. The output of
the SL-1+ goes to the ³line-in² stereo port located the rear of the Mac
G4-450 (AGP). I have the DarwingPSK General Settings set for

(Picture shows two input/output devices (Built-in Audio and an iMic) with
the Built-in Audio selected for Input at number 11 for the setting and the
iMic for the Output with number 80 for the setting)

The output may seem high but it takes a strong signal to activate the
Auto-PTT feature of the SignaLink SL-1+ interface. The normal
³Outputdevices² setting is about 50 without the iMic and 80 with an iMic in
the line. I do not use the iMic on the Input side as it acks like an
attenuator to the Kenwood output signal and I have been unable to decode
data with both devices in the input path. The reason I use the iMic on the
Xmit side is because I have one and it lets me retain my system beeps.
Without the iMic I have to use powered external speakers.

I think the example of the spectral display is about as good as it gets!
Each user will have unique settings.

(The picture is a Mac screen shot of a BPSK QSO I had with YB5BO with solid
text and really good looking spectral display. The colors are all blue with
strong signal)

This ASCI only reflector reminds me of a running packet on a Mac Plus
