Sometimes a picture is better than words; however, this reflector will
bounce messages with pictures in html format and strip all attachments.

Some have have asked about my weird RTTY interface so I put together a
picture of the setup. I just uploaded the pictrue to my web page and you can
view it there or send me an email and I will reply with the small (68K .jpg)
attachment.

The document is titled "Digital Audio Interface at AA5VU" and it shows the
TS-570D(G) connected to a Macintosh G4 using OSX and the new cocoaModem
software via the Griffin iMic and SignaLink SL-1+ adapters. The reason for
the non standard connections is results of a combinations of electronic
weirdness (lower than expected TS-570 output, impedance mismatches and
signal losses). The 'electronic weirdness' was the subject of another
posting. The interface described in the picture works.

One reason I selected the SignaLink SL-1+ Sound Card Radio Interface is life
is too short too ever solder another Kenwood 13-Pin DIN plug and
Tigertronics provided a cable with connectors on both ends. The real reason
is the very cool AutoPTT feature of the SL-1. The iMic is a great USB
adapter for people who want a better A to D converter or have a computer
lacking built-in audio input. I encountered an impedance mismatch with
TS-570 and had to bypass it on the RX side. I use the iMic via the G4's USB
port for the TX side. I selected this port over the headphone output jack
because it mutes the G4's internal sound system

Check it out..... there may be something of value for your setup. Each setup
seems to be different. After trying many different combinations, I finally
found one that works.
